Mission & Service & Outreach
Help us feed the hungry and serve our community and the world by giving here
Centre Church has a long history of outreach in the community and the world.
We are a "5 for 5 Church" in the UCC, giving to all 5 nationwide offerings: One Great Hour of Sharing, Neighbors in Need, Strengthen The Church, The Christmas Fund, and Basic Support.
We are a "Just Peace Church" supporting spiritually and financially justice and peace in our church, community and the world.
We are an "Open and Affirming" church, believing all of us are equally God's children regardless of gender, orientation, race, color, finances, etc.
In the church building, we host Centre For Children for infants through preschool. Tuesday and Friday noons, lunches are served by Loaves and Fishes, including large amounts of takeout on Fridays for those who might lack food over the weekend. They are currently providing a large portion of the food for the local homeless shelters and COVID relief food programs. We host multiple AA meetings each week, as well as other organizations providing needed counseling and support.
In the local community, we support a wide variety of organizations, financially and in kind and by volunteerism. We have an ongoing collection of food and clothing for those in need. One evening a month during the cold months, volunteers bake and serve food for homeless residents of the Seasonal Overflow Shelter.
On the International front: We host Carry Me Home which collects and ships clothing to refugees fleeing to Europe from the Middle East conflicts. We have had a Sister Parish in El Salvador since 1996, and previously helped support refugees who fled the Salvadoran war in the 1980s. Members have gone on many medical and church/youth mission trips, and we support students there through the Luz del Mundo Scholarship Fund.
