Centre Church Children
Faith In Action
All are welcome! We have a dedicated team of volunteers doing Children's Messages during worship, and teaching Sunday School and providing nursery care for our youngest children. Using the philosophy that children learn by doing, leaders get children involved in activities that teach them about faith by doing hands-on projects and helping others. Examples of past and present projects include:
Making Thank You cards to our local First Responders
Collecting for Trick or Treat for UNICEF
Baking cookies for the Seasonal Overflow Shelter and our own Loaves and Fishes lunch program.
Drawing pictures to send to the children in our Sister Parish in El Salvador.
Setting up a lemonade stand on the front lawn and sending the income to Church World Service.
Planting pansies in our front garden.
Saving pennies for One Great Hour of Sharing.

The Brattleboro Centre for Children celebrated the 20th anniversary of its incorporation in November 2021! It was brought into existence and supported by our Church's Mission and Service Department. Although hosted by Centre Church, it is independent and nonsectarian. The BCC is headed by Director Nan Mann, and is the only child care facility currently located in downtown Brattleboro.
Vision: Brattleboro Centre for Children is a private, not for profit, tuition based program. We are licensed with the State of Vermont as an Early Childhood Program with a 4 STARS rating. While we do not rely on any other funding sources to operate, we accept Child Care Financial Assistance for qualified families. For children to have optimal growth and development, we allow children to explore the world around. We partner with families and community resources to offer a program that respects the uniqueness of each child and the diverse backgrounds and communities from which they come.
Mission Statement: Brattleboro Centre for Children provides a professional early child care and education program to meet the diverse needs of families in the greater Brattleboro area. Our goal at BCC is to support each child’s natural curiosity and nurture an excitement for learning and exploration. We offer activities and experiences which stimulate social, emotional, intellectual and physical development. Our play oriented, activity based classrooms encourage each child’s individual pace for learning. Our Programs: We offer three classrooms, serving children between the ages of six weeks to five years. Operating year-round, we are open Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 5:30 pm. In an effort to best meet the needs of working families, one can select a regular or extended day program. Our regular program runs from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm daily. Families have the option of choosing an extended day beginning at 7:30 am or ending at 4:30 or 5:30 pm. Our program is staffed with a team of teachers for each classroom. Each team consists of a minimum of a teaching associate and a teaching assistant. Their qualifications meet or exceed the Vermont Child Care licensing requirements.
Core Values
♣Recognize, appreciate and embrace diversity
♣Offer curriculum to meet the individual needs of all children
♣Respect the strength of family partnerships
♣Recognize the importance of collaboration with family and community.
Highlights: The goal of Brattleboro Centre for Children is to promote the healthy development of children. Recognizing that all children are special, we work as a team to provide the best care and education possible allowing children to grow and learn at their individual pace. Our child to adult to child ratio is lower higher than state recommendations and our teachers meet or surpass all state guidelines. Our teachers are provided numerous opportunities for professional growth, thus promoting a learning environment for all. Because we are located in downtown Brattleboro, we access KidsPLAYce and Brooks Memorial Library on a regular basis, and are influenced by the wonderful diversity that comes from being in-town. We have our own gardens and raise our own vegetables, and the Loaves and Fishes soup kitchen provides lunches and meals for children and families on a weekly basis.
